Energy Efficiency Measures through the Replacement of the Lighting System at COMELF SA

Press Release

Date: 30.06.2023

The project “Energy Efficiency Measures through the Replacement of the Lighting System at COMELF SA” – SMIS 2014+ Code: 160703, financed through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020 (Funding Contract no. 2005/08.03.2023), is implemented by COMELF SA and has a total value of 1,110,499.22 RON, of which 845,016.39 RON represents non-reimbursable financing (718,263.93 RON from the ERDF + 126,752.46 RON from the national budget). The project, through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020, is implemented at the national level by the Ministry of Investments and European Projects, as the Managing Authority.

General objective of the project:

The general objective of the project is to increase the energy efficiency of COMELF SA by implementing energy efficiency measures and reducing specific energy consumption in buildings, such as the replacement of lighting fixtures.

The project objectives are closely linked to the specific objective of the “Large Infrastructure Operational Program” (POIM 2014-2020), Priority Axis 11 – Measures to improve energy efficiency and promote the use of renewable energy at the enterprise level, Investment Priority 11.1 – Energy efficiency and use of renewable energy for own consumption at the enterprise level, specifically ensuring energy efficiency at the building level and reducing energy consumption.

Specific objectives of the project:

  1. Increase the energy efficiency of COMELF SA by implementing energy efficiency measures and reducing specific energy consumption in buildings, specifically: replacing mercury vapor or metal halide lighting fixtures with LED lighting fixtures.
  2. Reduce electricity consumption after project implementation by 65.35% compared to the reference year within the energy contour defined in the energy analysis.
  3. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the investment project by 65.35% compared to the reference year, within the energy contour defined in the energy analysis.

Expected results:

  1. Implementation of energy efficiency measures in buildings, through the replacement of mercury vapor or metal halide lighting fixtures with LED lighting fixtures.
  2. Reduced electricity consumption during the project implementation period by 65.35% compared to the initial situation (2021) within the energy contour defined in the energy analysis.
  3. Reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 65.35% compared to 2021 as a result of the investment project implementation, within the energy contour defined in the energy analysis.

Project location: Municipality of Bistrița, Str. Industriei, No. 4, Bistrița-Năsăud County, Romania.
Project duration: 10 months, from 08.03.2023 to 31.12.2023.

The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020.
